Life and Martyrdom
- c. 5 AD β 30 AD: Jude, also called Thaddeus, was an Apostle (Luke 6:16), possibly the author of the Epistle of Jude.
- 30βc. 65 AD: He preached in Judea, Syria, and Persia, often with Simon. Around 65 AD, tradition says he was martyred in Persiaβclubbed or axedβpossibly in Beirut or Edessa.
Burial and Tomb Development
- c. 65 AD: Buried in Persia or Syria.
- 4thβ9th Centuries: Relics moved to Rome, likely with Simonβs, to St. Peterβs Basilica (or initially to another church).
- Present: Housed in a shared tomb under the Altar of St. Joseph in St. Peterβs Basilica, alongside Simon.
Timeline
