Life and Martyrdom
- c. 5 AD – 30 AD: Jude, also called Thaddeus, was an Apostle (Luke 6:16), possibly the author of the Epistle of Jude.
- 30–c. 65 AD: He preached in Judea, Syria, and Persia, often with Simon. Around 65 AD, tradition says he was martyred in Persia—clubbed or axed—possibly in Beirut or Edessa.
Burial and Tomb Development
- c. 65 AD: Buried in Persia or Syria.
- 4th–9th Centuries: Relics moved to Rome, likely with Simon’s, to St. Peter’s Basilica (or initially to another church).
- Present: Housed in a shared tomb under the Altar of St. Joseph in St. Peter’s Basilica, alongside Simon.
