π️ "The Lamb Led to Slaughter — And He Trusted Anyway"
π Reflection
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we close the Fourth Week of Lent, the shadow of the Cross grows longer. Today's readings begin to prepare our hearts for what is coming — not with dread, but with deep trust.
Jeremiah, one of the most beloved and suffering prophets in all of Scripture, speaks today with haunting words. He says he was like a trusting lamb being led to slaughter, not fully understanding what was being plotted against him. He had done no wrong. He had only spoken the word God gave him. And yet, his enemies conspired against his life.
Any faithful person reading this today will feel something stir within them. Because this is also the image of Christ. Jesus, the Lamb of God, was gentle, innocent, and trusting — walking with full knowledge toward His own Passion, not out of naivety, but out of love. Jeremiah's prayer — "Lord, this is in Your hands, not mine" — is not a cry for revenge. It is a cry of surrender.
In the Gospel, the crowd is divided over Jesus. Some say He is the Prophet. Others say He is the Christ. Others say He cannot be, because He comes from Galilee. The Pharisees and chief priests grow furious. Even the guards sent to arrest Him return without Him, saying: "Never has anyone spoken like this man."
There is a beautiful irony here. The very people sent to silence Jesus are the ones most moved by Him. Grace has a way of finding people in the most unexpected moments.
As we approach Holy Week, let us ask ourselves: which side of the crowd are we on? Are we the ones who say "it cannot be"? Or are we willing to let the words of Jesus stop us in our tracks?
Lent is almost over. Let us not waste these final days in spiritual comfort or routine. Let us be like Jeremiah — trusting our cause entirely to the Lord. Let us be like those guards — stopped cold by the truth of Jesus.
π‘ One Simple Message for Today Trust, even when you don't understand. Like the lamb, like Jeremiah, like Jesus — place everything in the Father's hands.
π A Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus, You were led like a lamb, yet You never lost trust in the Father. Forgive me for clutching my fears and worries instead of surrendering them to You. This Lent, teach me to say truly: "Into Your hands I commend my spirit." Amen.
πΏ Lenten Practice for Today
Write down one worry or burden you have been carrying alone this Lent. Say out loud: "Lord, I entrust this to You." Then leave it at the foot of the Cross today — and do not pick it back up.
May the Lord bless you and keep you close to His Sacred Heart this holy season. π️
