Jan Turchan was born in Biskupice, diocese of Krakow, September 19, 1879. He was received in 1899 by the Friars Minor in the Province of Santa Maria degli Angeli, he issued his temporary profession on September 13, 1900 and solemn on December 24, 1903, assuming the name Narcyz. Ordained a priest in Lviv on 1 June 1906, he was a guardian in various fraternities. Arrested twice and released for lack of evidence against him, he was finally arrested on October 6, 1941.
Interned therefore without trial in the concentration camp of Dachau, near Munich, despite his precarious health conditions did not cease to take care of his fellow prisoners. He died, as a result of the hardships suffered in prison, March 19, 1942.
John Paul II beatified him in Warsaw (Poland) on June 13, 1999 with another 107 Polish martyrs, among whom four other confreres appear.
