🌿 The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a significant feast in the Catholic Church, celebrated on August 15th, commemorating the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heaven. The Church has approved several prayers to honor this event. Here are some of the most widely recognized and approved prayers:

1. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Novena

Day 1:
O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God and Mother of men, we believe with all the fervor of our faith in your triumphal Assumption, both body and soul, into heaven where you are acclaimed as Queen by all the choirs of angels and all the legions of the saints. We unite with them to praise and bless the Lord who has exalted you above all other pure creatures and to offer you the tribute of our devotion and our love.

Day 2 to Day 9:
(Repeat the same structure with specific meditations on each day.)

Concluding Prayer:
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

2. Prayer for the Feast of the Assumption
Almighty and eternal God, You have taken up into heaven, body and soul, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of Your Son. Grant, we pray, that, always attentive to the things that are above, we may merit to be sharers of her glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

3. The Hail Holy Queen (Salve Regina)
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

4. The Magnificat (Canticle of Mary)
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
