Novena to St. Patrick

Day 1 - March 8

Reflection
St. Patrick used a shamrock to reveal the mystery of the Trinity to the people of Ireland. Even now, the shamrock serves as a gentle teaching tool, yet the sacred wonder of three distinct persons in one God remains beyond our reach. Through the precious gift of faith, we can hold fast to this truth of Christianity.

Prayer
I believe in you, God, my creator and the maker of all that exists. I believe in you, Jesus, my brother and my friend, truly the Son of God, who came to dwell with us and redeem us through your suffering, death, and resurrection. I believe in you, Holy Spirit, my ever-faithful companion, abiding in my heart as a fount of guidance, strength, and peace. You are three persons in one God. I cherish you and offer myself to you wholly.
Our heavenly Father sent St. Patrick to proclaim the gospel and share the holy eucharist with Ireland’s people. Through his intercession and holy witness, may we ever find St. Patrick’s guard against all evil and his guidance to the truth of the Triune God and your Son, Jesus Christ, the face of divine love. Amen.
