π️ "Do You Want to Be Well?"
π Reflection
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
On this feast of Saint Patrick, we celebrate a man who was taken from his homeland as a slave, found God in captivity, escaped — and then returned freely to preach the Gospel to those who had once enslaved him. His life was a living parable of Ezekiel's vision today: a river flowing from the Temple, bringing life wherever it goes, healing the dead waters, making everything flourish.
That is what the grace of God does. It flows outward. It heals. It restores.
At the pool of Bethesda, a paralysed man has been waiting thirty-eight years for healing. Thirty-eight years. Jesus approaches him and asks what might seem a strange question: "Do you want to be well?"
It is not a strange question at all. Sometimes we have been unwell — spiritually, emotionally, habitually — for so long that the illness becomes part of our identity. We organise our life around our wounds. We become comfortable, in a strange way, with our paralysis.
Jesus asks us today the same question He asked that man: Do you want to be well? Do you truly want to be free? Do you want to get up from the mat you have been lying on — perhaps for years?
Like Patrick, who did not remain a slave but arose and followed God's call with radical freedom, Jesus calls us to rise.
"Rise, take up your mat and walk." These words are for you today.
Whatever has paralysed you — a habit, a wound, a resentment, a fear — Jesus is standing before you right now, asking the same question: Do you want to be well?
π‘ One Simple Message for Today Jesus asks you today: "Do you want to be well?" Answer Him honestly — and let Him lift you up.
π A Prayer for Today
Lord, I confess that sometimes I cling to my old habits, my old wounds, my old excuses. Today I say yes: I want to be well. Command me to rise, and give me the grace to obey. Saint Patrick, pray for us. Amen.
πΏ Lenten Practice for Today
Identify one area of your life where you have been "lying by the pool" too long — a habit, a resentment, a fear. Bring it before God in prayer today, and consider taking it to Confession before Easter.
May the Lord bless you and keep you close to His Sacred Heart this holy season. π️
