THE STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE - Faithful in Small Things
"We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we ought to do." - Luke 17:10
Paul writes to Titus about ordinary holiness - older men sober and patient, older women holy and teaching, young people discreet, all showing an example of good works. Not showy, but sound, honest, and kind.
Why? Because grace has appeared. Jesus gave Himself to redeem us and cleanse us to be a people eager to do good. Grace doesn't make us lazy, it makes us faithful.
Jesus says today, when you have done all you were commanded, say "We are unprofitable servants." This is not false humility. It is freedom - we don't serve to get praise, we serve because we love.
The psalm says, "Trust in the Lord and do good, delight in the Lord." Your small faithful duties today - at home, at work - are your way of delighting in Him. Do them without complaining, and God is pleased.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, make me faithful in small things today, without seeking praise, trusting that salvation comes from You.
