π️ "One Man to Die for the People — The High Priest's Unknowing Prophecy"
π Reflection
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. The Church gives us today a day of quiet preparation — placing before us readings filled with both ancient promise and gathering foreboding.
Ezekiel speaks of God gathering His scattered people from all nations, making them one, placing a sanctuary among them forever. It is a vision of the Church — the new Israel — gathered not by bloodline but by faith in the Messiah. God promises with tender certainty: "My dwelling shall be with them; I will be their God, and they shall be My people." This is the covenant written not on stone tablets, but on human hearts.
Then comes the remarkable scene in the Gospel. The chief priests and Pharisees call a council. They are afraid — not of Jesus' holiness, but of His growing influence. And the high priest Caiaphas, a man of cold political calculation, speaks words he does not fully understand: "It is better for you that one man should die instead of the people."
He says this to protect his own power. But the Evangelist pauses to tell us something extraordinary: Caiaphas is prophesying. Without knowing it, without meaning it, he is announcing the very theology of our salvation. One man will die for the people. The Lamb of God will take away the sins of the world.
This is the mystery of divine providence. The very men plotting to kill Jesus are — without knowing it — instruments of the salvation they are trying to prevent. God writes straight with crooked lines. Even the darkest schemes of human beings cannot obstruct the purposes of God.
Tomorrow the palms will wave. The crowds will cry "Hosanna!" And Jesus will ride into Jerusalem knowing exactly where that road leads. Let us spend today in quiet, grateful preparation. Tomorrow, let us be among those who receive Him — not as a crowd swept up in emotion, but as disciples who understand what He is about to do, and who choose to follow all the way.
π‘ One Simple Message for Today Even human plotting cannot stop God's plan of salvation. Trust that God writes straight even with the crooked lines of our world.
π A Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus, tomorrow You enter Jerusalem as our King. You go knowing the cost. You go freely. You go out of love for me. Let me receive You tomorrow not just with palms in my hands, but with a heart truly open to all that Holy Week asks of me. I want to follow You all the way. Amen.
πΏ Lenten Practice for Today
This evening, spend five minutes in quiet preparation for Holy Week. Ask the Lord sincerely: "Lord, what do You want to show me this Holy Week — about Yourself, and about me?" Then wait. Then listen.
May the Lord bless you and keep you close to His Sacred Heart this holy season. π️
