In God's Hands

"The souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them." - Wisdom 3:1

Yesterday we celebrated the saints in heaven. Today we remember those who are still on their journey to heaven - our loved ones who have gone before us.

Sometimes death looks like the end. Wisdom says, in the eyes of the foolish, they seemed to die. But they are not lost. They are in God's hands, in peace.

Jesus gives us His promise in the Gospel today - "I will not cast out anyone who comes to me. This is the will of my Father, that I should lose nothing of what He has given me, but raise it up on the last day."

What a reason to have hope today. Our love does not end at the grave. Through baptism we were buried with Christ so we can live with Him. The love of God has been poured into our hearts, and it is stronger than death.

If you miss someone today, bring them to Jesus. Pray for them, offer your day for them. And let Jesus hold you too, because He will not lose you either. You are safe in the Shepherd's hands, even when you walk through the valley.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, hold in Your hands all the faithful departed, especially those I love. And hold me too today.
