LONGER-RANGE FINANCIAL PLANNING

"The children of this world are more prudent than the children of light." - Luke 16:8

Jesus tells a strange story today - a dishonest steward who was about to lose his job, and he quickly reduces the debts of his master's debtors to make friends for his future. The master actually commends his shrewdness.

Jesus is not praising dishonesty. He is saying, look how serious worldly people are about their future. They plan, they act quickly, they use what they have now to secure tomorrow.

Why can't we, the children of light, be that serious about heaven? Paul says our citizenship is in heaven. We are waiting for Jesus who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body. That is our true future.

So what you do with your money, your time, your relationships today matters for eternity. Every small faithful choice is an investment in heaven. Psalm 122 says, "Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord." Let that joy make you wise today.

Use what you have now to love, to forgive, to give, to build friendship that will last forever. That is longer-range planning.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, make me wise for heaven. Help me use all You have given me today for what will last forever.
