Small Beginning, Great Kingdom
"It is like a mustard seed... and it grew and became a great tree." - Luke 13:19
What is the Kingdom of God like? Jesus says it is like a mustard seed which a man took and planted in his garden, and it grew and became a great tree, and birds lodged in its branches. Again, like leaven which a woman hid in three measures of meal till the whole was leavened.
It starts small, hidden, but it grows and transforms everything.
Paul shows where this Kingdom grows first - in the home. Be subject to one another in fear of Christ. Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the Church and delivered Himself up for her to sanctify her, to present her glorious, holy, without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. This is a great mystery, but I speak in Christ and the Church.
Psalm says blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in His ways. Don't look for big signs today. Your small act of love at home is leaven that makes the Kingdom grow.
Prayer: Lord, plant Your Kingdom in my heart and in my home. Make my small love grow into something great for You.
