| Saint Severino Gallo, Pray for us ! |
A native of France, Saint Severino Gallo was a very famous Doctor of the University of Paris and very well known in the Mercedarian Order. Finding himself in Algiers, in Africa for redemption, he was captured by a Muslim prince, who, seeing him very faithful to Christ, ordered to convert to Islam; he refused. Torn with very refined torture, he was then nailed to a stake and thus reached the choir of martyrs in the year 1419.
The Order celebrates it on January 1st.
