Keep Your Lamp Burning
"Stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour." - Matthew 25:13
Wisdom is not hidden. She is easily found by those who seek her, and she meets us cheerfully along the way. The psalmist says the same - "My soul thirsts for You, O God."
That thirst is what makes us ready. In the Gospel, ten virgins go out to meet the bridegroom. Five were wise and took oil, five were foolish and took no extra oil. All fell asleep, but when the cry came at midnight - "The bridegroom is here!" - only the wise were ready.
Christian life is not about being anxious, it is about being prepared - keeping a little oil in our lamp every day through prayer, mercy, and love. Paul gives us comfort today - those who have died in Christ will rise, and we shall be always with the Lord.
Don't wait for a perfect day to seek God. Seek Him this morning, while the day is still young. Keep your lamp burning today.
Prayer: Lord, make my soul thirst for You. Keep the lamp of my faith burning today so I am ready to meet You.
