Martyrs Killed Under Communist Regimes in Eastern Europe

Among the thousands of Christians murdered by various Communist regimes in their hatred of the faith, there were 25 members of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Russian Byzantine Catholic Church, including priests, bishops, sisters, and laypeople. These individuals were specifically targeted and killed for their faith. Their Causes for Canonization were opened, combined, and they were beatified together. They are commemorated both separately and collectively. They were beatified on 27 June 2001 by Pope John Paul II in Ukraine.
