Mathew 1:18; Luke 1:26-38
O God, Who didst will that Thy Word should take flesh, at the message of an Angel, in the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary, grant to Thy suppliant people, that we who believe her to be truly the Mother of God, may be helped by her intercession with Thee. (Collect for Annunciation)
The Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

- Mary’s purity surpasses all, making her the shrine of the Holy Spirit and the abode of the Son of God.
- Gabriel reassures her: “Fear not... you shall conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call his name Jesus. His kingdom will have no end.”
- Mary, having vowed perpetual virginity, asks how this will be.
- The angel explains: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; the child to be born will be called the Son of God.”
- All heaven awaits. Mary consents with humility: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to thy word.”
- “Blessed are you among women, for you have brought forth life. The mother of our race brought punishment; the mother of our Lord brought salvation.”
- At that moment, in Mary’s womb, the Savior was conceived. “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.”
May the grace of the Mystery of the Incarnation come down into my soul and make me truly humble.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
