REFLECTION: Jesus appeared to his Apostles and other disciples for forty days after he rose from the dead. He instructed them on many things as he prepared them to lead his Church in the years to come. He told them joyful news about the coming of the Holy Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit would come to them after his Ascension into heaven.

DAY 5 - MAY 16
REFLECTION: Jesus spent forty days after his Resurrection appearing to his Apostles and instructing them on many matters. His Apostles must have been saddened when he had to leave them once again after those forty days. But they had the opportunity to grow in friendship and intimacy with Jesus before he ascended back into heaven.

REFLECTION: Jesus rose triumphantly from the dead after dying for us on the cross. He helped us to understand that we will all one day rise and be judged. As he ascended into heaven, he showed us that we should keep our last days and final judgment always in mind, in the joyful hope of spending eternity with him.

REFLECTION: After Jesus rose from the dead, he told his Apostles that he must leave them in order to ascend to the Father. They must have been saddened at the prospect of his departure, but he told them that he would send the Holy Spirit and would be with them always.
