Novena to St. Thomas the Apostle

Day 1 - June 29

Scripture Reading: John 14:5-6
“Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Reflection: St. Thomas’ honest questioning and doubts are a reminder that faith involves a journey. Jesus’ response encourages us to trust in Him as the ultimate guide.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to trust in You as the way, the truth, and the life. Through the intercession of St. Thomas, may my doubts lead me to a deeper faith.

Day 2 - June 30

Scripture Reading: John 20:27-28
“Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’ Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”

Reflection: Thomas’ declaration of faith after encountering the risen Christ is a powerful testament to the transformative power of experiencing Jesus personally.

Prayer: Dear Lord, like St. Thomas, I too proclaim, “My Lord and my God!” Strengthen my faith and help me to believe even when I have not seen.

Day 4 - July 2

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:19-20

Reflection: As one of the apostles, St. Thomas helped lay the foundation of our faith. We are all part of the same spiritual family, built on this strong foundation.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the foundation of faith laid by the apostles. Help me to build my life on this strong foundation, remaining steadfast in my faith.

Day 5 - July 3

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Day 7 - July 5

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:8-9
“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Reflection: Believing without seeing is a mark of true faith. St. Thomas’ story reminds us that faith brings joy and the promise of salvation.

Day 8 - July 6

Reflection: St. Thomas, like all the apostles, was tasked with spreading the gospel. We are also called to share our faith and trust that Jesus is always with us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to share my faith with others. May the example of St. Thomas encourage me to be a bold and faithful witness to Your love and truth.

Day 9 - July 7

Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

Reflection: St. Thomas persevered in his faith journey, ultimately leading to his martyrdom.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, grant me the grace to persevere in my faith journey, just as St. Thomas did. Help me to fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith until the end. May I, too, receive the crown of righteousness that awaits those who remain steadfast in You.
